Ministry History
Kevin received a call to ministry at 14 years old while responding to an altar call at Youth Camp at Lake Williamson in Carlinville, Illinois. Kevin says “God made me to know that He was calling me to serve Him for the rest of my life” Upon finishing High School in the Spring in 1979 he began studies at Central Bible College in Springfield, MO. Kevin married Michelle, in 1981, between his sophomore and Junior year of College. Graduating in 1983 with a BA Degree in Bible and Pastoral Ministries he and Michelle accepted a position of Youth Pastor in Ozark, AL. Through the years they served in a variety of leadership positions from Youth Pastor, Executive Pastor, and Senior Pastor. In 1997 the Petersons birthed Refining Fire Ministry. RFM is a maturing call to the church for returning to her first love and to become all for which she is destined. Refining Fire Ministry became dormant, but not forgotten at various times. The most recent time was while Kevin served on Pastoral Staff at Trinity Church in Cedar Hill, TX. from February 2008 until September of 2010.
Each position and opportunity of ministry deposited vital pieces of preparation for their current activity. May of 2010, the Petersons were stirred by a vision of calling the church to her anointing and authority, and mobilizing the Spirit of prayer. In Mark 11:17 Jesus makes a strong statement “My house shall be called a house of prayer. Certainly the goal of the gathering place of a church should focus on making Him the center of attention; however, Jesus is also referring to our body as the Temple or church. This is what Paul would later give us better clarity.
(1Corinthians 3:16,17) Our life should be a house of prayer.
Currently, Kevin and Michelle are both traveling with their message and teaching. They are encouraging and giving leadership to raising up houses of prayer across the nation. At home they continue developing Deluge Prayer Furnace. Deluge Prayer Furnace started in July of 2007 as a Worship and Intercession time. Believers who share the vision from a variety of churches make up those who are involved with the house of prayer.
